Probably Stolen controls are mouse-first: you drag items between windows, use tools on them and call customers with the counter bell. The developer has never published a full key list, so this page collects every control the official patch notes state, from the September 14 demo build to Modding Security Update 1.0.0.6. If an input is not listed here, no source states it yet.
Probably Stolen controls: rotating and moving items
The Update 049 notes say a dragged item can be rotated and flipped with mouse wheel up, mouse wheel down and a middle click. That answers the most common question about how to rotate items in Probably Stolen. Hotfix 1.0.0.5 then switched auto-rotate while sorting off by default for new players, so it is an option you turn on if you want items to turn themselves in a grid.
- Select several items: drag a selection box (it shows bright white) and move the group at once. Selected items can be used together on one target item.
- Place precisely: hold Shift while dragging to put items exactly into a different inventory.
- Sort: right-click a grid inventory to open a menu with sorting options.
- Storage tabs: since 1.0.0.5, dragging a single item onto a storage bay tab moves it into that tab, as a multi-selected group already did.
- Swap batteries: dragging a battery onto another battery swaps them if you own both. Desequencer crypto modules swap the same way.
Tool shortcuts and the Toolbox
Selectable items have an equip mode that lets a tool be used quickly on many items. The Toolbox stores tools, including the blue and red labelers, and pressing keys 1 through 9 equips the matching tool. Dr. Jackson sells the Toolbox after day 14. That is the biggest time saver once you relabel water or sort stock all day, and the how to make pure water in Probably Stolen loop leans on it.
Other shortcuts from the same notes: pressing Delete while hovering over an item you own in the store sends it to the trash bin, container items such as the Storage Bay close with a double click, and a phone contact can be quick-dialed from the phone book, which connects instantly when the contact will answer.
Counter bell, Menu and Back keys
Hotfix 1.0.0.5 added a rebindable hotkey for the counter bell, shown as "Call next customer (Bell)", set to B by default. Hold it to dismiss the current customer, the same as holding the bell. Options also has settings to instantly dismiss a customer, to dismiss one and call the next, and to call Security straight away. The notes do not name default keys for those, so check Options in your own build before relying on them, and read Probably Stolen contraband before you call Security on a customer.
Update 1.0.0.6 added a "Menu / Back" binding in Options: a second key that does everything Esc does. Esc itself now closes the most recently used item window or paper screen first, in a consistent order, and the cap on open inventory windows rose from 10 to 25. Windows hide during customer examine and shooting modes, which matters when you are deciding whether to shoot an Aug; see Probably Stolen augs.
Probably Stolen controller support and Steam Deck
Probably Stolen controller support is not listed on the Steam store page, and the Steam categories there show Mouse Only Option, Adjustable Text Size, Custom Volume Controls and Playable without Timed Input but no controller category. Players have asked for it in at least two threads on the Steam forum, one of them in Chinese; we found no developer announcement of a date. Valve rates the game Playable on Steam Deck, not Verified, and the Probably Stolen release date page covers that rating and what the developer said about it.
Display options also changed: hotfix 1.0.0.5 made the frame cap on by default and follow your monitor's refresh rate (at least 60 FPS) by using VSync, added borderless fullscreen for monitors that are not 16:9, and made the resolution dropdown show your native resolution while a fullscreen mode is selected. The same patch fixed stuttering and tearing, and VSync can be turned off again in Options. The 1.0.0.6 security update may break older mods; see Probably Stolen mods and Probably Stolen patch notes.
