Probably Stolen Radioactive Waste: What to Do With It

Probably Stolen radioactive waste: you cannot sell or trash it directly. How the Dumping Grounds work, what Georgio does, and the workaround players report.

3 min readLast checked Sources

Probably Stolen radioactive waste is a hazard item that players on Steam run into early and then cannot get rid of the normal way. The developer has not published any guidance on it, so everything below is what players report in the Steam forum, not official fact. Three separate threads agree on the main points, and the details can change in a patch.

Probably Stolen radioactive waste: the short answer

Players say you receive the waste early. One player was carrying 5 pieces from day 3, and another lists 3 cans. The usual complaints are the same: you cannot sell it, even to the shady buyers who normally take anything, and you cannot drop it outside, trash it directly or cancel it through insurance.

The fix most players report is to carry it to the Dumping Grounds and leave it there, one barrel per night. A second, rougher workaround uses a container and the trash can. Both are covered below. Nothing in the sources explains where the waste comes from or whether any buyer pays for it. That question is still open.

Using the Dumping Grounds for Probably Stolen radioactive waste

The Dumping Grounds is the scavenging location you can visit at night, also called the scavenging place or trash yard by players. To get rid of waste there, take it with you in your backpack and leave it on site. Players are firm on the pace: one barrel per night, not the whole stack at once.

Going out also has a cost. A demo-era guide says a night trip reduces next-day walk-in customers by 1, and a launch-era player lists injury risk and lost customers as drawbacks of scavenging. Dumping a barrel a night therefore costs you a little business each time, so it helps to combine the trip with real scavenging. Our Probably Stolen tips and tricks page has more on stretching early days.

Georgio and returned waste

Georgio, the shady seller, may bring your dumped waste back to you the first time. Players say it stays gone once you dump one barrel per night afterwards. One forum user dumped all five barrels at once and got them back the next day. They then dumped one a night for five nights and never saw the waste again.

That is a single account, and it fits the "one barrel per night" advice. If a batch comes back, do not assume the method failed; try the slower pace before looking for another fix.

The container workaround

Another Probably Stolen radioactive waste trick from players: put the waste inside a storage container, such as a spare crate, a security crate or the small bag, and throw the whole container in the trash can. The forum notes that you lose the container, and that it may be a bug, so it could be patched. Use a spare container you do not need.

Two weaker reports are worth a hedge. One player says supply crates can pass the waste to someone else. Another reported the person who gave them the waste to Security, and Security got angry and showed no interest in the waste. Neither is a recommended route.

If you pick a start that leans on scavenging, such as the Rock Bottom scenario, expect to meet the waste problem early. Compare other starts on the Probably Stolen starting scenarios page, and see Probably Stolen contraband for other items that cause trouble at inspections.

Probably Stolen Radioactive Waste FAQ

Can you sell radioactive waste in Probably Stolen?

Players say no. Even the buyers who normally take everything refuse it, and no source has found a buyer. One forum user guesses it can be turned into money through scavenging, but no one says how.

Can you trash radioactive waste?

Not directly, according to forum reports. The trash can rejects it. The reported workaround is to place it inside a container and trash the container, which costs you the container and might be a bug.

Where do you dump it?

At the Dumping Grounds, the night scavenging location, leaving one barrel per night. Georgio may return the first batch, but players say later nightly dumps stay gone.

Is it the same as nuclear waste or hazardous waste?

Players use "nuclear waste" and "radioactive waste" for the same hazard item, and forum threads use both names. No source lists a separate hazardous waste item. For other ways to earn and spend, see the Probably Stolen water guide and how to buy the shop in Probably Stolen.
